#314 Tres Leches Cake (by TheHungryDudes)
We’ve covered Tres Leches before, but this version is very different.  The berry component adds both brightness and flavor.  The frosting is light & fluffy, a nice counterpart to the dense, moist cake.

#313 Pulled Pork Sandwich (by TheHungryDudes)
The epitome of what pulled pork should be - smoky, tender, and luscious.  Hunks of melt in your mouth fat intermingle with charred bits of sweet porcine goodness.
A vinegary cole slaw is on the side.  A perfect companion to the pork.
From Lazybones Smokehouse in Clinton Township.

#312 The Hog Trough (by TheHungryDudes)
We ate this approximately 2 hours ago and my hands still smell like smoked meat.  This platter has 4 ribs, sliced beef brisket, and house made & smoked sausage sitting atop a pile of hand cut fries.
Just check out the smoke ring on the brisket.  This is some serious BBQ.

Reblog Contest: Win a White Castle Candle

So here’s what happened.  My wife Angela loves candles and I bought her a rare White Castle candle for her birthday.  I had to visit 3 White Castles in the Detroit area just to find it.

The candle smells like a burger.  The outside is ceramic in the likeness of a White Castle hamburger box.

Turns out she hates White Castle more than she loves candles.

Since she doesn’t want her house smelling like White Castle burgers, I’m giving it away to a lucky random stranger in the next couple days.

To enter, all you have to do is

1) follow us on Tumblr and

2) reblog this on Tumblr.

And if you’re already following us, then you deserve a raise and also, you just need to do step 2. :)

Winner will be picked at random on Thursday and I will mail it USPS style to you.  Deal?

#311 Tacos de Cayos (by TheHungryDudes)
Soft corn tortilla tacos with swiss chard, pan seared scallops, caramelized onions, and a light chipotle tomatillo sauce.
Seared scallops aren’t your usual taco filling, but this is a really interesting dish.  With just the right amount of heat from the salsa and the sweet, brininess of scallops, these are memorable tacos.

#310 Crab Rangoon (by TheHungryDudes)
Probably not traditional in any sense of the word, crab rangoon is served in most Chinese restaurants that cater to American tastes.
Wonton wrapper filled with cream cheese, crab (or krab), and green onion or garlic.  Served with a hot mustard plum sauce.
